Casinos: The Loss of a Paycheck
Monday, August 27, 2012
If you're like me and you live in a state that has a casino, there's a good chance that you have been to it. I started going every once in awhile when the casino nearest me first opened. The environment was fun and I actually made some money. This is what drew me in every time (for the last eight years). I don't know if my luck changed over the years or the casino just got stingier, but I started noticing that I was losing more and more money every time I went. At one point it got so bad that I was taking off work on payday just to go to the casino. I got lucky 10% of the time and walked out with a little more money than I walked in with. The other 90% of the time I lost everything in my wallet and even scraped up change to try to get my money back with what I tried to convince myself was my lucky last dollar. I don't consider myself to have a problem with gambling even though my wife says that I do. I have grown to hate the casino and the smiles on the faces of the cashiers. I wish that the casino never existed. But I still find myself driving towards it and walking through the doors at least twice a week. I have more control now then I did a few months ago, but this just means that I bring less money to lose.
